What is PTO and why should I join?

What:

• A school volunteer organization that supports students and teachers
  through fundraising efforts, volunteer opportunities, corporate
  partnerships, and an annual membership drive. We focus strongly on
  supporting our teachers and staff as much as possible throughout the
  year as well as enhancing opportunities and resources for the students.

Why we need you:

• PTO events and committees require a lot of volunteers as well as
  financial resources. We also depend on fresh ideas, new perspectives,
  and a variety of backgrounds to make sure we’re supporting as much
  of the student body as possible. Parent and family involvement is what
  drives this organization, and ultimately our school!

Ways you can support PTO:

• Make a member donation
• Volunteer for a committee
• Participate in fundraisers like Holiday Shop and Eagle Card sales
• Attend scheduled Spirit Nights at local restaurants
• Have fun coming to school-wide events like Eagles Around the World,
  Bingo Night, Spring Family Night, etc.

What has PTO done over the last year?

• Purchased the Accelerated Reader license for the entire student body
  to focus on improving reading skills at individualized levels
   
• Provided quarterly Reading Rewards incentives for over 550+ students
  in conjunction with their Accelerated Reader progress
   
• Supplied lunches, drinks, snacks, and more during different staff
  appreciation events throughout the year, including Christmas and end-
  of-year staff luncheons
   
• Provided daily perks for staff during Teacher Appreciation Week
   
• Made a large donation to help Eagle Run Walk meet their goal towards
  the new playground track to help Eagle Run Walk meet their goal
   
• Implemented Swag Bags for PTO members to help feature our
  generous corporate sponsors with discount opportunities for our
  members
   
• Hosted first inaugural Holiday Shop to teach students about budgeting,
  planning, and the thoughtfulness of gift giving

PTO Fun Facts

• PTO membership does not obligate you to volunteer (although we love
  volunteers!). The funds received from PTO membership help the PTO
  fund all of the committees that support the students and staff
  throughout the year, such as staff appreciation, accelerated reader
  incentives, book fair decorations, and more. Every little bit helps us love
  our staff and students that much more!
   
• We love our corporate sponsors!  School sponsorship is a great way to
  support the PTO and advertise your business at the same time.  We
  have four different partnership levels that come with different perks. Click on the Sponsor PTO link on this page to learn more!
   
• On our school webpage, use the links under the PTO tab to find a list of
  the staff’s favorite things, links to our forms, as well as other important
  PTO information.
   
• PTO has a Facebook page for parents and teachers of Malcom Bridge.
  This Facebook page keeps everyone up-to-date about school events
  and is also a great place to ask questions!  Search “Malcom Bridge
  Elementary PTO.”
   
• We have added so many fun, new spirit night opportunities in addition
  to our old favorites!  Spirit nights are the easiest way to support the
  PTO- all you have to do is take your family out for a fun meal (or ice
  cream!) and tell them you’re with Malcom Bridge.  We’ll receive a
  percentage of the proceeds and you don’t have to cook dinner!  Our
  first Spirit Night this year will kick off at Bruster’s on Monday, 8/17 from
  6-10.  Please see the attached calendar for a complete list of all of our
  scheduled spirit night.
   
• PTO offers parents a great way to stay informed and connected without
  any specific obligations, while supporting the overall goals for MBES!
